Shailja Patel

Shailja Patel is a Kenyan-Indian explosion on the national poetry scene. She has performed at US venues from the Lincoln Center to San Quentin prison, and drawn standing ovations in London and Glasgow. She is currently developing a one-woman spoken-word theater show, Migritude. Migritude has already received media coverage across the country, been broadcast as work-in-progress on KQED, and was recently selected for the International Women Art Festival in Vienna in early 2006.
