Coping with Pain - Nishrin Hussain

NAJID HUSSAIN
Born and brought up in Maharashtra, Najid Hussain came to Ahmedabad (Gujarat) to earn a Ph.D. at the Physical Research Laboratory. It is there that he met and married Nishrin Hussain, the daughter of late Ahsan Jafri. Soon after, the Hussains moved to Bath (U.K.) where Dr. Hussain worked at Bath University as a Post-doctoral Fellow and subsequently as a Senior Scientific Officer at Camborne School of Mines, Cornwall. On invitation from a colleague at the University of Delaware, Dr. Hussain left England to come to the US and joined the College of Marine Studies at the University of Delaware, where he currently serves as a Research Scientist. Beside science, his interests include sports, journalism and teaching. He has written several articles on the issue of religious unity, communal acceptance and the need to eliminate elements of fascism from society. In the aftermath of the Gujarat violence and the brutal killing of his father-in-law, Dr. Hussain has visited Gujarat and described his findings in a series of articles and seminars. He was recently invited to testify before the US Commission on International Religious Freedom in Washington DC.

The Hussains are also the proud parents of two boys.
