I remember seeing Anant Patwardhan at school in India and recommend his film 'Ram Ke Naam' (In the name of God) to all people concerned with the rise of fundamentalism worldwide and the freedom of the artist/documentor. I resent the idea that any one group of people can speak or be outraged on behalf of an entire community! The truth is that fundamentalism & religious revivalism are alive & kicking in India. To force the censorship of documentation/commentary is just a disgusting strongarm tactic. Such censorship seems to target literary or artistic interpretations of texts like the Ramayana, that do not agree with the majority. There is no One Ramayana, just like there is no One way to live as a Hindu. I hope that the exhbition will continue as originally planned.
